Sinquefield Cup: Duda and Gukesh play a thrilling draw

by Shahid Ahmed - 23/08/2025

The fifth round of Grand Chess Tour Sinquefield Cup 2025 witnessed five draws. However, it featured quite possibly the most exciting game of the tournament so far. FIDE World Cup 2021 winner, Jan-Krzysztof Duda (POL) played an exciting game against the reigning World Champion, D Gukesh. Duda had some winning chances, though they were not easy to find. Eventually, the game ended in a draw via repetition. All games ending in draws meant that the standings remains unchanged. Fabiano Caruana (USA) is still the sole leader 3.5/5, followed by Levon Aronian (USA) and R Praggnanandhaa at 3/5 each. Today is the sole rest day. Round 6 starts tomorrow Sunday 24th August at 12 p.m. local time, 10:30 p.m. IST. Photo: Lennart Ootes / Grand Chess Tour
